Homeowner Blues

It was the first day of summer the other day and I feel like it was over before it even started. Lacking optimism? Bad attitude? Perhaps, but I'm probably accurate to some degree because I feel like dealing with my current home situation is going to take up a lot of time and energy during my favorite season; which always goes by fast to begin with. Fred finally came over last Saturday morning and took of the piece of wood under my slider and found more damage than he initially expected. So now I'm dealing with a fairly involved home repair project (due to poor work when the house was built) and I'm in the midst of calling contractors and the builder and will eventually need to decide if I want to make an insurance claim. Super fun times. Really regretting buying a house. I do, however, feel a little bit better after having Trista's husband come look at it yesterday morning. I do have to keep telling myself that this is fixable and it can always be worse. Please, don't become worse. I can't handle much. Anywho. I'm utilizing this short, rainy, overcast weekend to clean my house and write this entry. I switched a day with a coworker and this week, so I have Wednesday off to do adult things instead of tomorrow. I never feel like doing doing this but I'll be glad I did in the future? Also, forcing myself to do things I don't want to do builds character and makes enjoying the good things in life that much better.

The weekend of the 25th, I got up super early Saturday morning and headed to Nashua to hang out with Eric, Denise, and Faith. They were having a big Labor Day weekend garage sale so I brought some stuff to get rid of. It was hotter than balls but still fun to hang with them outside all day during the unofficial start of summer. They got rid of a bunch of stuff and I got rid of a dish set, game console, and some smaller things like a travel mug, hair dryer (lol), and an iphone case. Also ate some yummy food like 5 guys for lunch and we went to dinner at a "speakeasy" downtown. Everything came back out Sunday but it wasn't as busy and we had to work around rain. Eric helped me prepare for my car buying experience (which took place Thursday that week)I headed home early afternoon after a quick pit stop at Trader Joe's. Monday, I went to get a mani/pedi with Dayna in Hanover as an early birthday present. My plan was to go to the dealership but I chickened out.

I finally went through with buying my new Nissan Rogue Sport on the last day of the month after getting the day off at the last minute. It was pretty scary but it's nice to have it over and done with. I didn't trade in the Silver Bullet because I feel like it's worth more than they offered so it sits in my garage until I gather the balls to actually sell it. I at least got it inspected so I know I can be firm on what I want for it. I always took good care of it plus I'm nostalgic so I'm only letting it go if the price is right. Enough on that. The first of the month was the Fellow's Roast at the Hanover Inn. A free catered meal is great but I ultimately decided I no longer have any desire or obligation to go to that function again. Waste of time. Plus, I always just want to go home on Fridays. I was home on Saturday and went to Ctown Sunday to spend some time with Simone. We went grocery shopping and spent time outside at the park, playing baseball, and finding caterpillars. Also played with playdough while waiting for our grilled steak dinner. I made a little pit stop on the way home to grocery shop.

I was able to take my birthday off and I ended up having a pretty lazy day after sleeping in. I eventually got my shit together and went for a nice leisurely run on the rail trail. It felt pretty good and I ended the day with Gusanoz take out and a pint of Chubby Hubby. I think I may make that routine for years to come. That weekend was pretty uneventful. I got some stuff done and went to Ctown Saturday to hang out with the Goss'. They treated me to Tremont take out and a B&J pint for my birthday. Spent some time with the kids and we had our usual adult time after they went to bed. A hilarious picture was taken that night and it made us laugh so hard it hurt. Filters can be pretty freakin hilarious sometimes. Who wore it better?

Last weekend was a good weekend despite getting bad news Saturday morning. Very appreciative to Fred who took time out of his busy schedule to do what he did for me (and only took beer for it despite me offering more). I went to see Cora and Diane that evening. We visited over cocktails for a while and had wine, spaghetti and meatballs, garlic bread, and salad for dinner. No room for dessert. We played Aggravation after dinner and I headed home between 930-1000. I figured out the hands free function in my car and caught up with Suzy on the way home. On Sunday, I went to the Weston Playhouse with Puffles and Simone to see Anne of Green Gables. They did a great job. Hung out for a bit after getting back. They headed out for a Father's Day ice cream date so I headed home after a pit stop to show Merm my new car. Monday, I started making phone calls for my house. I can't wait until this is over. I shouldn't be dealing with this...unacceptable for an 8 year old house.

My music situation is pretty much the same. I'm enjoying a 90's alternative Sirius station when I'm in my car and toggling between my top Pandora stations (A Perfect Circle, A Tribe Called Quest, etc.). Other tasks beckon me and Xander is begging for his nummies...
