It's been a rainy, chilly weekend and I'm currently on call until tomorrow morning. Per usual, I'm taking this opportunity to be productive and write something here while I'm attached to the pager. So far (knock on wood), it's been quiet. I've cleaned up my kitchen and brushed Xander so far, and now I'm trying to maintain some motivation with this with Barre class and grocery shopping to follow. Yesterday was Ladies Range Day so I went with my coworker Jen. Throughout the day, we rotated between archery, rifle, handgun, and shotgun stations. I left my house yesterday morning a little later than I had planned because I got up early to watch the royal wedding. Range day ended up being pretty fun and we got some good pictures. We left around 330ish, I made a little pitstop for a cappuccino, then I headed to the Subaru dealership in Norwich to test drive the new Forester. Super nice. Yes, I am officially car shopping. I have one more left to drive (Mazda SUV hopefully tomorrow up in Barre, VT). Long day yesterday so I had a quiet night in.
Picking up where I left off. I had Simone over for a sleepover on the 22nd because she was on April vacation. I took her to the Aquatic Center for a few hours which was a lot of fun. We made a pit stop for a few groceries before heading home for the evening. Pesto pasta, smart puffs, and chocolate chip cookies were on the menu. We watched Beauty and the Beast, colored, and played in the spare room before going to bed. The next morning, we got Muriel's doughnuts and went to Kmart to get some toys then we did my grocery shopping for the week. We played on the playground at the Leb high school for a little while but we got kicked out for not being a student lol so we headed back to Ctown. After I got home (made a quick pit stop first at the Goss house), I took a nice long walk around my neighborhood side streets before calling it a day. So tired.
While Simone and I were at the grocery store, I got a text from Pete letting me know that Granny was in the hospital. She wasn't feeling well and turns outs, her blood pressure was really high. They treated her blood pressure and she was able to go home that day. When I was on my lunch two days later, I texted Pete asking how Granny was doing. He happened to be on his way home from work because she wasn't answering her phone so he knew something was wrong. His hunch was right and he found a bloody mess when he walked into her apartment. He called 911 while trying to figure out where the blood was coming from. It turned out that she was having delusions and ended up trying to kill herself because she imagined that the mafia had broken into her house and told her she needed to kill herself or else they were going to do it. She was unable to communicate until that evening when she could verbalize what she had imagined. She had gone to her kitchen and used kitchen knives to try to cut herself. As luck would have it, she didn't hit an artery. Everything that has transpired since then seems to point to a UTI as the likely culprit but they can't prove that with 100% certainty. She was treated for that plus they had her on antipsychotics for the delusional behavior. She went from an acute setting to a psychiatric hospital then to a transitional care facility. I haven't talked to Granny since Monday but I believe she may be home now with some visiting services. At first, we thought maybe it was a stroke and the beginning of the end but Granny is strong and still has more living to do.
The following Saturday, I had an appointment in Hanover for a back facial. It was amazing. I need to do it again. From there, I headed to work to cover Archie because he had resorted to using his GOUT scooter. Poor guy. It was a busy Saturday; we ended up doing 2 STEMIs and a unit patient. Thankfully, Flynny took over at 8 so I atleast had my Saturday night back. I don't recall much from the rest of that weekend so my time was probably spent doing my normal busy work.
The following weekend was Cinco de Mayo. Wohoo. The only celebration I took part in was making guacamole but that wasn't until Monday evening. Saturday, I went to Ctown to hang out with the Goss'. I helped put the kids to bed after they were done with chores (they had been at Adam's parents that day) then we did our usual for the rest of the night. Sunday, I was home and Monday I officially began the car shopping experience by test driving the new Nissan Rogue sport. I really liked it. It's going to be really hard to make a decision when the time comes.
Last weekend, I was on call Friday. I had to stay late but did not have to come in again, thankfully. Saturday, I test drove the new Toyota Rav 4 and Honda HRV. I will reiterate that this decision is going to be rather difficult. Sometimes, I just don't want to adult. Sunday, I did some yard work (I'm attempting to grow grass in some bare spots in my yard). Monday, I renewed my driver's license in Newport, test drove the Buick Encore, and brought my merm flowers for Mother's Day. Oh and I made zoodles for the first time. Yummy.
Work has been ok although I'm feeling a bit burnt out. The fact that we are short-staffed and I'm fairly busy in my personal life at the moment really doesn't help very much with that feeling. This is my favorite time of year and I don't want summer to pass by in the blink of an eye. I just want this car buying process to be over so I can return to what I consider normalcy. Oh and my bluetooth speaker's battery is shit again and it would be nice if I didn't have to clear so many hurdles just to get a simple replacement battery. One roadblock after another when it could be so simple. I guess I should feel lucky it still works fine while plugged in. Anywho, I'm going to try to sleep. I have to get up for a pest appointment (ants and wasps are back and my trap in the basement killed a mouse last week) and my annual financial fitness meeting at the Hitch. Wish me luck.
