Bestest Time of the Year

It is officially the best time of the year. June is the best month ever and when the first day arrives, it sure is a swell feeling. I have my birthday to look forward to (I took it off this year) and it's the official start of summah. This past weekend was unevenful although it felt busy. I'm hoping June proves to be a little less hectic than May. On Saturday, I went to Barre then headed to Newbury for my armpit electrolysis appointment (making progress). I got home in time to shower, eat some food, then spent almost 3 hours at our yearly HOA Board meeting. I officially accepted the treasurer position and I hope I don't regret it. Cindy (our president) has spent an absurd amount of her personal time dealing with all of our HOA shit. Thankfully, she is retired and is able to spend her time willingly but it would be rediculous for any one of us to do all that shit for free. I'm already irritated about the time I have to donate to this endeavor and I haven't even started. Hopefully it's works out ok, if not, I feel obligated because I've been here for 5 years but I am not required by law to do any of it. We'll see how it goes. Yesterday, I was home. I cleaned my bathroom and did my grocery shopping then headed to Ctown around dinner time to see Maddy's 10th Jenkins recital. She did a solo and group performance; her skills are very impressive and she did a great job. Before that, I stopped by my moms to grab a piece of wood to serve as a door jam for my slider. I got paranoid after seeing Ross and Chisteen's. I like to feel as safe as possible. Today, I have done meal prepping and errands. Doing this now and the plan was to also go for a run, but (shocker), it may be too late if I want everything done by 7 PM. It's amazing how inefficient I am but never plan for it by starting earlier. Some days, I just want to give up.

The second week of May was where I left off. That Saturday, I went to Barre then followed with an armpit appointment. Was home the rest of the day. Sunday was Mother's Day. We (my mom, Ray, Denise, Eric, Faith, Heather, and Simone) met at Newick's in Concord for a late lunch. There was some crying (a lot of fighting it) but generally, it was a good time. I introduced Simone to chinese fortunes. I made a little Target pit stop before heading home. Monday, I spent at home doing stuffies. Work that week was abbreviated because I flew to AZ on Thursday for a long weekend spent with family. Luckily, my coworker and I switched our call night so I didn't have to fly after a call night. Wednesday night, I dropped Xander off at Dayna and Corey's. It's really hard being away from him for even a night these days so facing 6 nights without him was tough. I love him so much.

My trip to AZ was long overdue and it was really nice. I got a lot of visiting done with Ross and his family, Sherry, and Granny and Pete. I took the Dartmouth coach to the airport at noon (we got rear-ended in Boston traffic) and thought I wasn't going to have much time for a proper meal but the flight was delayed a couple times due to mechanical issues (yikes) so I didn't get into Phoenix until around 9. Long freaking day but of course I couldn't sleep past 5 am AZ time Friday morning. It was a little rough but Ross, Sherry, and I managed to climb halfway up Camel's Hump in Scottsdale and have a salty Mexican dinner out. On Saturday, Ross and Christeen hosted a cook out at their place. Her parents, niece and nephew (and eventually sister-in-law), Austin and his fiance Ashley, Granny, Pete, Prudy, and Sherry were all there. It was fun and relaxing to hang out and visit with everybody. The day ended with family board games. On Sunday, the same crew (minus Christeen's side of the family) all went out to breakfast to say farewell to Pete and Granny. Sherry, Ross and I took a little road trip later on to some places Sherry wanted to go. We went to the Queen Creek olive mill then to a record store and the Trader Joes Sherry used to live near and work at. On our way back, we hit up In and Out Burger. It actually wasn't as good as I remembered although I have been spoiled by 5 Guys and Worthy Burger. Still good, though. The day ended by looking at family pictures. Monday, I went for a long run around their large neighborhood, followed by a Chic Fil A lunch. We also hit up a few stores. We had a big family spaghetti dinner and just hung out. I flew home early Tuesday morning, getting home at 930 PM my time with my little fluffy guy. Travel was uneventful but a long day, nonetheless, and the weekend could not come any sooner.

Last weekend was moving day for Heather and Simone. In general, I felt like it went well and Simone took it all in stride. She was beyond pumped to have her own room and she slept there by herself all night for the first time ever. Originally, I was going to have her all day and night away from the move but that changed. She needed to be around everyone and a part of the process and she did fine. I think she's a tough kid and she will be just fine. If that changes, I guess the coming months will reveal any ill effects. We took a pizza lunch break then went out to dinner at Rev when everything was said and done. I spent Sunday and Monday (Memorial Day) at home doing stuffies and spending time with my boy. Now, I must decide (quickly) if I run before it gets even later.

Peace.
