It's been a pretty busy month and May will prove to be even busier. I'll just get right into it. Brandi was here this past weekend. She arrived a late Saturday morning so we got to chat a little before our Worthy Burger lunch date with Kelly. She came Saturday because of her kids' games but both ended up being canceled, otherwise she would arrived mid afternoon. We hung out at my place for a little bit then met Kelly and Matt for dinner at 110 Grill and it was delicious. Brandi and I stayed up late watching Family Guy and eating ice cream. On Sunday, we met Kelly for breakfast at Lou's. We went to Ctown for a 3 PM reservation at the Cantina for Cinco de Mayo after visiting with my mom and Ray for a bit. I thought it would be mobbed but it really wasn't that busy. Good and bad, I guess. I was planning on going to Howard's celebration of life for a little bit but we didn't end up going. We got back to town around 7ish after making a little pit stop at the little store in Cornish. We watched The Highwaymen on Netflix, finished our pints, and headed to bed early. We got up this morning, had coffee, made breakfast and went for a 1.5 hour walk on the rail trail along the lake. It was finally sunny and 70 today. Brandi left for home around noon. Fabulous day. Sitting outside now, wishing the sun was still up. Oh, Archie came over today and installed my video doorbell :)
I took a Tuesday/Wednesday off at the beginning of April to go see SOJA at the Casino Ballroom. The only productive thing I did that day was organizing my "house" bag to a house stuff binder after some consolidation. I'm trying to simplify my life as much as possible these days. It's helping to feel less stressed and more in control. Along those lines, I finally got rid of cable and I don't miss it. Simplifying is great, but saving a little bit of money each month is greater. Ok, back to the concert. So I went with Dayna and Cory. Cory wanted to come so he could spend some time in our world and see how great these reggae bands are. Third time seeing SOJA and they didn't disappoint. I just wish the weather wasn't so cold and windy. It was a late night so the following day, I tried to sleep in. I had my annual financial fitness meeting (on track), and went for a long run. I was on call the entire first weekend in April. It was pretty uneventful. Got to stay in bed all 3 nights and nothing too tiring during the day. That Monday, I got rid of cable, sold a little basket, and almost passed out working out on the elliptical so I cut my workout in half. I don't know what my problem was and it was a little scary.
The second Saturday in April was fun. I went to my morning Barre class then met my new coworker Erin for a 30 minute run on the rail trail. Her husband was there but went for a bike ride instead. We had lunch at Salt Hill then went over to Lucky's for coffee and sat outside in the glorious sun for a while. I went to Ctown the next day to hang out with Simone at my moms while they did some yard work. Simone had spent the night there. We did some playing outside and learned to surf down the hill on cardboard. Also did some coloring and made a quick trip to Leo's before I brought her home. I hung out for a little bit, had first dinner with Heather and S then went back to my moms for a bowl of spaghetti...second dinner. Yum. That Monday, I met Travis' contractor Dad to have him look at my bathroom. He is supposed to be getting me a quote for the job (still waiting). He did, however, come back later that week to fill the part of my foundation where mice are most likely getting in. I really am hoping that problem is solved. Actually, it would be fucking amazing.
The following weekend was pretty low key. I went to Barre Saturday morning, drove to Newbury for my armpit appointment, worked out on the elliptical and did my grocery shopping. Sunday was Easter so I went to my mom's for spiral ham, scalloped potatoes, and green beans. Delicious. Dave and Jeff were not there. I peaced out a little after 6 because I was on call and they were setting up for an EKOS. That Monday, I cleaned my bathroom and went for a run.
Last weekend was pretty low key. I went to Barre Saturday morning and was home for the majority of the weekend. On Monday, I went to Keene to visit Amy. Unfortunately, it was the first time seeing her since her surgery...sometimes I feel like a bad, selfish friend. Better late than never, I suppose. There was another reason...she is trying to figure out what she wants to do for work when the time comes and she is considering nursing. Not only did I go down to visit, but also because she asked to pick my brain about my chosen profession. I made a pit stop at prime roast coffee then headed to her place for the afternoon. It's always nice visiting with her. I left around dinner time, stopped in Charlestown to visit with the Goss' then picked up some take out at the Cantina before heading home. I cleaned Xander's potty room then called it a day.
Notable sad events this past month: Denise and Eric had to put Maggie down and Adam's father collapsed at home and passed away despite EMS's great effort. Also, Notre Dame almost burned to the ground. Jesus (no pun intended), so much history would have been lost.
Music? Still going strong with Jurassic 5 radio.
