Summer Vacation #1

I'm taking advantage of the quiet room and free wifi at my local Toyota dealer while the silver bullet gets serviced. Killing two birds with one stone. It has 130,000 miles on it and I'm half expecting them to find something terribly wrong with it every time I bring it in. Hopefully that's not the case today, although it's never convenient. I just got back from Maine last night (or this morning around 0130, rather) after making a stop in Hampton Beach to see 311 and Matisyahu at the Casino Ballroom. They were awesome. I arrived around 230 on Saturday and we did our usual chatting on the couch for a while. Hung out with the kids, ate taco salad for dinner, watched a couple of movies (Sisters and Deadpool) while housing Bed and Jerry's. The kids headed for Santa's Village Sunday morning with Brandi's mom and Mark for the rest of the weekend. We went to a LuLaRoe party, swam, then Mike took us out to dinner at the Kennebec Tavern. We got some blizzards and watched more movies (How To Be Single and Dirty Grandpa). Good movie choices, lots of laughs. Mike took us boating on Monday, we drank Gin and Tonics and narrowly missed a thunderstorm. While picking up pizza on the way home, drunk Brandi bruised her shin badly while trying to climb into the boat to get me a beer...and I missed it lol. Tuesday, we did our usual Freeport shopping and had a yummy lunch before I hit the road.

I have 4 more days of vacation to enjoy (including today because I'm on call Sunday). As soon as I get out of my appointment, I'm going to grab my fluffy little kitty. He's been having fun at Dayna's but I miss my cuddly fluff. I finally made an appointment to get my mouse and ant problem taken care of. I noticed a rotting carcass smell in my kitchen last night when I got home and discovered a dead mouse in my have a heart trap under my sink earlier. Finally decided to work but I feel bad the poor thing died over the weekend before I could put it in the woods. So much mouse shit under my sink and in my basement...out of my control so unfortunately they have to be exterminated.

The last weekend in June was a busy one. I went for a run on Saturday and went to Betsy's 30/60 birthday party (she's 30 and her mom was turning 60). It was lots of fun, outdoor games, beer pong in the garage, dancing, and I got hit on by a college kid (I was also told last night leaving the concert by a younger drunk guy that I was pretty #winning). Notice how I said kid. That's what they are to me now because I'm getting older. A common theme over the weekend at Brandi's; we talked about aches and pains, crows feet, and varicose veins. Ugh. I had to stay the night because I drank lots of beer. The next day was Alina's goodbye party at her house in Grantham. So much yummy food.

The following weekend was a long holiday weekend for July 4th. Saturday, I went for a run and hung out with Kalen. I saw his new house in Sunapee and we went to a little lake house down the road to hang out with Dayna where she was staying with friends. I was in Nashua at Denise and Eric's house on Sunday and Monday for a party. Lots of eating, lounging, chatting, and swimming. Pete flew in for a 10 day visit on the 3rd so he got to hang out with us for a little bit after Sherry picked him up at the airport. I made a pitstop at the outlets in Merrimack on my way home, found a probable dress for Megan's wedding.

I went to Keene after work the following Friday to meet Sherry and Pete for drinks and dinner. We had a good time chatting. The ladies in Ludlow hosted a Sunday afternoon get together in their common area. We just hung out, snacked, boozed, took pictures, and ate pizza and ice cream for dinner. Simone and I played hide and seek and took fun snapchat pictures (snapchat gained some new users).

Half marathon training has been going pretty decent. I ran 10 miles for the first time in my life on the 12th. I had done 8 miles a couple of times prior to that and it felt decent so I decided to go for it. 10 miles took me 2 solid hours, slow but I didn't stop. I think I'm ready to finally sign up for a half marathon. Time doesn't concern me, I just want to be fairly comfortable and complete the distance. Trying again tomorrow, hopefully it's OK considering I haven't done anything since then. If so, Smuttynose half on October 2nd. it is. Just gotta do it.

Work has been busy, although we've had some slow days. Glad to be off this week and even more glad that Flynn took my Friday and Saturday call. We've had a lot of badness lately; it comes in spurts or so I've been told.

I'm sleepy and ready for bed...not enough sleep and late nights lately so I need to recharge tonight and get up and get my run in before it gets too hot tomorrow. Simple, healthy dinner followed by no dessert. Watch me go.

What I've been listening to lately: going between the Pepper, Deftones, and Instrumental Hip/Hop stations on Pandora. Good stuff.
