It's been an interesting weekend, to say the least. Saturday morning began with a conversation about a house fire happening near their houses. Ashley could hear a ton of sirens, smelled the fire, and knew Charlestown Rd. had closed because traffic was being diverted down her street. Ray also lives in that area so I decided to shoot my mom a text...well, turns out it was Ray's house. He had worked all night, was asleep for the day and his wood stove caught fire. He was awoken by neighbors and passerby who saw the smoke billowing out of his house and he managed to get out quickly with only a little bit of hair being singed. It was so close to being a completely different outcome and I'm so glad he's ok. His house and belongings? Not so much, but those things can be replaced. It's kind of funny how life happens...I had reached out to Ray last weekend to wish him a happy birthday and we ended up talking a little bit about the current status of the family. He ended up discussing things with my mom and she in turn reached out to me Wednesday evening and we had what turned out (to me, at least) a long productive conversation. She was supposed to come over this weekend and continue talking but needed to help Ray start getting back on his feet. I've just been doing stuffies around the house and trying to enjoy the warmth and sunshine...it's been lower 60's this weekend. Saturday, I did my usual stuffies. Took a shower and decided I was going to go for a walk then grab some groceries. I've had my period this week and I felt it was slowing down a bit so I popped a tampon in and put a liner in my skivs and went about my day. By the time I got to the deli counter, I felt like something was very wrong. I put my hand down and got frank blood all over my hands. Luckily, my cross body purse covered my ass as I finished panic shopping. By the time I got home (had to pick up take out after groceries), I had bled through everything and had a grapefruit-sized blood stain on my pants. All over my car seat. Ridiculous. Time for a different type of birth control. Yesterday, I finished laundry, made stuffed peppers, used my new spot cleaner (Xander likes to throw up on my recliner), took a walk, used my Kohl's cash, took a tubby, then called it a night after dinner and dishes. First thing this morning, I was supposed to get my water heater serviced but they canceled on me because of a call out. I cleaned Xander's potty room and am working on this until my webex PIV training at noon. This afternoon, I need to finish this (will be a bit lengthy), take another walk as it's another sunny, warm day, and run errands.
When I left off last, I was getting ready to start a short week. I took off that Friday because Brandi and James traveled here Thursday for the weekend and were here to greet me when I arrived home. We hung out and visited and had Gusanoz take out for dinner. After James went to bed, Brandi and I started watching Letterkenny. Funny show lol. Friday morning, we got up and hung out for a bit, made breakfast and decided to do some shopping (James' idea). We ended up going to Home Goods, Kohl's, the Paper Store, the mall, and finally Wal-Mart before finding a suitable lego set. We had lunch at KAF (in the car) and did some shopping in their bakery store afterwards. We got Tuk Tuk take out for dinner and chilled for the rest of the night. I made a quick pit stop at the caramel store while in Hanover because KAF did not have Red Kite candy. We watched a couple of movies after James went to bed. Saturday, I got up early to shower and make scones before we headed out the door for a 1000 snow tubing date in Ctown. We only did 3 runs before James called it quits (I think he was a little anxious) so we headed to the Barn Cafe for an early lunch. As we were getting ready to leave, Dave and Simone walk in. They were a little surprised to see me but it was nice to talk to them for a little bit. I had reached out to Heather 2 weeks prior to ask for Simone for a night while Brandi and James were here. She said she would talk to Dave and then I never heard from her. So maddening but there's nothing I can do about it. I guess the run in was meant to be because it reestablished communication between Dave and I and it's easier to plan things with him because he has Simone every weekend. When we got back into Leb, we did some more shopping at Newbury Comics and BAM. We vegged for the afternoon (binging the Mandalorian) until it was dinner time. We went to Lui Luis. Sunday morning, we got up and had breakfast at Lou's and watched more Mando until they headed back to Maine. I spent the rest of the day getting organized and cleaning. Monday, I cleaned Xander's potty room, grabbed some groceries and cleaned some more. It was a really fun, albeit tiring, visit but I'm starting to reach the end of my rope with some things which prompted me to reach out to Laura. I'm tired of the way Brandi treats me (having to point out every little thing I do wrong or differently or slowly and making it seem like a huge deal) and I'm sick of it. I know I'm sensitive but I'm also no longer the girl that was left alone at the table all those years ago. I'm also not a fan of the person she's proving herself to be in recent times...it just does not align with my values and beliefs. She told me a few years ago that women were too emotional to be in big political positions and sat in my living room this visit and described the gym teacher at her school as a "dyke" with "flailing muscly arms." I'm pretty sure she's at least a little bit racist too. I haven't figured out how to deal with this but I'm going to start by declining the invitation to drive 6+ hours to a lake in Maine during my summer vacation. Nag, I'll relax at home with my boy.
The following weekend was a badly needed low key one. I went to Barre Saturday morning, had a long conversation with Laura and spent the rest of the day doing Saturday stuffies. Sunday, I did laundry, cleaned my bathroom, grocery shopped, meal prepped, and took a tubby. Monday, I cleaned my spare bedroom, ran some errands and went for a nice cross country ski on the rail trail. Left a little too late because it was pretty dark by the time I got back.
The following weekend, I had Simone over for our first post-COVID slumber party. Saturday morning, I got up and went to Barre. I went to Dave's house to pick her up around noon and took her to the HVC sponsored tubing event at Arrowhead. Like James, she only made 3 runs before she was ready to go. After the fact, she said it was fun but I think she was also a little anxious. Afterwards, we headed to Leb and we chilled at my house for a bit. I was finally able to give her her Xmas presents and then she wanted to go to the park so we played at the high school playground for a bit. We got take out for the first time at Men at Wok (will definitely go back) and watched movies. We did some drawing and headed to bed around 1030ish. I was able to sleep a little bit more than I have with her in the past but she still moves around quite a bit. She slept a full hour after I got up so I was able to have a leisurely cup of coffee. We hung out for a bit, she watched a movie while I did dishes then we got ready to go out for breakfast. Plan A: Lous (dining room closed), Plan B: Four Aces (way too busy), Plan C: DD. Heather touched base with us then and let me know that her good friend from college had a massive stroke and was in the ICU in MA. I feel so sad for her husband and kids and I hope she can recover. We then went to Tip Top Pottery to do some painting and spent until mid afternoon chilling at my house. We did some more drawing and playing doll hide and seek. We packed up and I dropped her off at 5. I ended up staying and visiting for about an hour. Pete had contacted me earlier in the day to say he needed to chat so I had a long conversation with him after I got back home. Long story short, my Granny's breast cancer has come back (she had a single mastectomy when she was 72) in her remaining breast and it's aggressive. She is not a surgical candidate so she recently started hormone therapy to hopefully keep it from growing and metastasizing. I hope she can hang on for a while because I'm really not ready, even though I'm vaccinated, to get on a plane. On Monday, I did some laundry, prepared a HOA deposit, ran some errands, did some cleaning and went for a walk.
Last weekend, I had a semi-productive weekend. Saturday, I did some stuffies and computer "errands." Sunday, I did laundry, ran errands, and took a tubby. My mom texted us to let us know that my Uncle David had had a heart attack the previous day. He is doing fine and there's minimal heart damage. Based on what he told me, it sounds like they stented his left circumflex artery. The cath lab nurse in me wants to know so much more but I must be patient. Monday, I did my semi-annual spring cleaning (takes about 5 solid hours) of my bedroom and went to Barre around dinner time. I rewarded myself with 5 Guys for dinner. Speaking of dinner, it's time.
The podcast I did with Annie has been published :)
I can't wait for season 4 of Stranger Things to come out.
Xander's eyes are looking a little cloudy to me these days...I think he's getting cataracts :(
