It's Raining

1.27.18

This may be the first time I’ve begun an entry this early (the fact that I’m sitting at the laundromat waiting for my comforter to wash and dry helps; Xander decided to watery yak on my bed last Wednesday and it soaked through down to my pillow). Like I said before, I’m going to try to write a little bit each week while my memory is fresher to see if it’s any easier to keep up with.

The weekend of the 12th was pretty quiet. I went to Ludlow Saturday to hang out with Cora. I gave her her Christmas gifts, we visited, played yahtzee and aggravation, and ate pork, mashed potato, and squash for dinner. She made rice pudding for dessert; everything was really yummy so I overate and ended up driving home uncomfortably full. We also called and chatted with Granny for a little bit. I was supposed to go to Ctown Sunday but ended up not because the stomach bug was going through the Goss household (we were supposed to have a winter adventure in the woods) and Heather was starting to get sick. Simone was also congested. It was also cold with not a lot of snow on the ground...less than ideal for a hike in the woods. Monday, I got my water heater serviced for the first time since moving in (didn’t realize I am supposed to do that yearly until a coworker kindly informed me).

Last weekend, I got out of work a little early on Friday and came home to Brandi and James. We met Kelly and Ruby for dinner at Gusanoz. We just hung out and chatted, going to bed late after a few drinks. Saturday, after making breakfast, we met Kelly, Matt, and Ruby at the Montshire then had lunch at King Arthur Flour. We hung out at their house in Quechee for a few hours then headed to Big Fattys in WRJ for a devine BBQ dinner. I scored some hip to the hops at the growler pit next door before we headed home. After James went to bed, we enjoyed our pint night. Pint of ice cream, of course. Sunday morning, the same crowd went to Lou's for breakfast. Brandi and James hung out for a little bit after breakfast before they began the trek home to Maine. I ended up going to my Barre class at 4, doing my grocery shopping for the week and calling it a day.

Welp, I’ve survived my first day of being in charge at work. Thankfully, it was an easy day to survive. It’s almost 5 but I’m on call tonight so the day never really ends officially until tomorrow evening. I had an exhausting weekend which is never really a fun way to start a new work week. I took last Friday off so I was able to get some stuff done before Brandi arrived around dinner time. We popped open a bottle of wine which turned into a second bottle which turned into a couple of additional beers for Brandi (she has really good tolerance; like me, but 10 years ago). I’m really not interested in binge drinking anymore therefore it’s irritating when I’m being pressured to drink more than I want to. I enjoyed that part of my life years ago and now those days are over. As a result, bedtime came too late and I slept like garbage. We drove to Burlington, MA Saturday morning for a day of shopping with Laura. We stayed at a hotel down the road Saturday night. I slept more Saturday night but certainly didn’t get the rest I desperately needed. Even though I was tired as hell, I was still the last one to fall asleep. Between being overtired, TV in the background (the channel was changed from a show about the 90's to 50 Shades of Garbage), not being in my own bed, and snoring, just made it that much more difficult. I'm going to just come out and say it...I don't belong in this trio and it's becoming more apparent the older I get. I've always been the outsider and I think it's getting to the point where I'm no longer willing to give my time and my energy. I want to do things on my own terms, in my own way, in the time it takes me without any judgement. I'm there...so what do I do about it? I don't know. The next morning, we relaxed a bit before packing up and checking out. We had breakfast burritos down the road before parting ways. Brandi and I made a few pit stops before hunkering down at mi casa for the Super Bowl. The snow started falling as we got ready to eat home made beef nachos with guacamole and sushi from Yama's. We also may have indulged in more cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory. And cheetos. We eat what we want. Monday, we had breakfast at Lou's then got pedicures. Did a little more shopping before she headed home 130ish. I did a few things then spent a much-needed 2 hours snowshoeing on the rail trail. Solitude, coffee, music, and winter scenery...just want I needed.

The previous weekend, Sunday, the 28th (the day after the laundromat trip), I went to Claremont to hang out with Heather and Simone. We made a Hannaford's trip then Simone and I spent some time outside. We walked to Moody Park for a bit then made it halfway to Maple Ave. School before deciding to turn around and go back home. We played hide and seek, made stuff out of clay, and knocked over some dominoes. I headed to Ashley's around dinner time, hung out with the kids for a bit, had Ramunto's for dinner, then helped put them to bed. Spent the rest of the evening in the basement until 930ish. I had lunch with Betsy on the 29th. We met for Sushi in Hanover. I hadn't seen her in about a year and a half...ran into her at the Mac and Cheese fest at Harpoon in 2016. Too long! It was really great to see her; she's doing well. Busy, of course. Baby Tucker will be a year old in the Spring and I have yet to meet him. Hopefully, it'll be a lot sooner than 2019.

This weekend was more my speed. Friday night was mine. Yesterday, I slept in, did some housekeeping, cleaned my bathroom, and ran errands for the shower. I organized a baby shower for Trista and Jess at the condo today. The turnout was decent but not what I was expecting. Up until recently, Jess wasn't going to come because her bf wasn't going to let her. Yup, I won't get into that but she did end up coming with her mom and Colby so that's all that matters. Her circus, her monkeys. We did have lots of yummy food and good cake. I do have to say that that my diaper cake came out really well. I should have taken a picture of it, but then again, I didn't take any pictures. Oh well, memories will have to be good enough. It was rather brief (not complaining); started at 2 and we were cleaned up and out of the apartment by 430. I always have stuff to do. Speaking of, it's a little after 7 on this lovely Sunday and I'm calling it a day. There is cake waiting for me...
