Mexico!!!!

The countdown to our Mexican vacation has come and gone and now it is time to accept the inevitability of a dark, cold, and snowy winter. I can at least relive the week long feeling of warmth and 100% humidity a little bit in this blog. It started out on a frustrating note as the hotel in Boston the night before we left didn't have our reservation. Maybe we (as in the travel lady) booked it too much in advance? Thankfully they had a room for us and the fact that we had cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory made it all ok. We had an early flight so we were checked into the resort by 4ish Sunday afternoon. We settled a little bit and walked around the resort, ate some food, and grabbed someone to show us around. When the night began, we were too tired to do anything so we just went to bed. It rained pretty much the entire next day but made the best of it with the hot tub and adult pool and we also befriended someone who was in the wedding we saw from a distance the previous day when we were out and about drinking dirty monkeys. I could be long winded about the rest of our vacation but I just don't feel like it sooooo I'm going to defer to all the pictures I took and be content. The resort and scenery was beautiful and we ended up having little rain for the rest of the week. We only left the resort 2 days...excursions to Tulum, ATV riding, and snorkeling in a cave one day and Xcaret the next day. We ate, drank, slept, sat out on the balcony, and spent lots of time at the beach and by the pool. We also had dolphins living at the resort. We tried a cuban cigar but we didn't go to Coco Bongo. We used our spa coupon. The one thing that was a little disappointing was the food. Some things were delicious (the guacamole, for example) but I kinda resorted to being a vegetarian half way through the week because some things were grossing me out. Vacation is fun but I missed my kitty terribly. So happy to bring him home after bonding with Grammy for the week lol. So happy I got another week of vacation to stay at home with my fluffy guy.

I love having the last two weeks in October off. It's fun to conclude it with Halloween going trick or treating with Simone. Heather had to work so Jeff and I went with Dave and Simone. She was Curious George this year and was super cute even though she kept taking her monkey hat off. I got to see the Goss' and Emilee and the kids. We went to New Socials for dinner.

So things started to progress quickly the last week of October with the guy I've been seeing and I decided last Monday at the Pepper concert that there is no way it's going to work. Several reasons why. I won't go into detail but I'm fairly certain that I cannot coexist with anyone. I'm so relieved, relaxed, and happy to be alone.

Last Saturday, I took a little trip over to Ludlow to spend the evening with Granny and Cora. We had a lovely time chatting, drinking cocktails, playing aggravation and eating lots of lasagna. She made me pancakes and bacon in the morning and I headed home around noon after a few more games of aggravation. I dragged my sleepy self on a 12 mile bike ride. Would have loved to relax, watch my show, and go to bed in my usual fashion but that didn't happen. I started the work week exhausted and headed to Higher Ground after work to see Pepper. They played everything I wanted to hear. On another note...I'm getting old because college kids annoy the fuck out of me. Partly overtired? Who knows.

This past weekend, I was on call until 7 am Sunday. It was surprisingly quiet until I was thinking about heading to bed Saturday night. STEMI call at 1030...and that lady was sick. It was a good busy for some unstable patient experience off shift and I was home by 3. My call anxiety has improved, thankfully. It will continue to improve the more experience and knowledge I acquire. Work has been fine, in general, although I'm really disappointed to be on call Christmas day. Super sad face.

I've been listening to a lot of 90's alternative on Pandora and most of it makes me really happy.
