Post-Call Rainy Monday

I'm so relieved this weekend is over. Call weekends suck and this one was a little premature because I switched weekends with a coworker so I didn't have to be on call during my October vacation in 2 weeks. I was on call Thursday night (16 hour day) and Saturday and Sunday. I had Friday off to rest.  The nights were quiet, thankfully, and we did 3 patients Saturday and 2 yesterday. Yesterday afternoon, I made apple crisp, did my grocery shopping and hung out with neighbors at a block party for a little bit. We were going to mount our dues dropbox but that didn't pan out, especially since some of our cars were broken into Saturday night (luckily I ALWAYS lock my car) so we decided to go with a more secure option. Back to the drawing board. Today, I'm trying to get stuff done. I meal prepped and brought Xander to the vet for his annual check up this morning. It was a little rough because they took him out back to attempt to get a blood draw but he wasn't having it. I almost cried listening to him yowl but no one was hurt because I warned them what happened last time Unfortunately it was for nothing because they gave up. He will need to be sedated in the future. Since coming home, he has had diarrhea and thrown up multiple times. I'm hoping it's a mix of nerves and licking whatever antiseptic they used on him. He has eaten half his nummies (mega unusual) and is resting on my bed, acting like he doesn't feel well. My poor baby. Hopefully I can get a run in, weather pending, as I've been lazy all weekend. I'm treating myself to 5 Guys and ice cream tonight because I deserve it. Also, it was 60 in my house yesterday and I couldn't do it anymore. Cranked the heat to 70 and I'm not looking back.

September seemed like a short month which, I guess, is not surprising because summer goes by so fast. It's beautiful in New England this time of year but I'm officially freezing and it's only going to get worse. I guess this means I shouldn't get rid of my call because I need all the money I can get to keep my house 80 degrees all winter. It's the only way I'm going to survive. Anyways, we did have some summer remnants last month which was super enjoyable enough for deck beers. The weekend of Friday the 13th was fun. Saturday morning, I went to Barre, my armpit appointment in Newbury and headed down to Ctown with 5 Guys to celebrate Ashley's birthday. I made a pit stop in Windsor for a little bit because Dayna and Cory were having a housewarming/birthday party. Bummed that both parties were happening on the same night. Once in Ctown, we had some basement time with our junk food and eventually headed out for our planned ghost tour of our wonderful hometown lol. It was actually pretty awesome. Unbeknownst to Ashley, Christina arrived ahead of us at our first stop. Our goal was for her to scare the crap out of her but it didn't work well because Ashley saw her first. A for effort. We toured the outside of Cupola farm, went to the oldest cemetery in Ctown, went to the site of a murder in Charlestown (Jen's land), then ended up at the cemetery where Dani's father is buried in Cornish, stopping on the way to see the Winter St. marker where a kid was killed in the early 1800's. We tried the ouija board at all sites except for the old cemetery and the road marker. I don't believe in that stuff but it was still fun. We ended the night with giant sugar cookies covered in frosting. On Sunday, I was home doing stuffies. It was warm so I had a deck beer. Monday, I did stuffies and went for a long run. Becca was supposed to be in town for an appointment but she didn't come.

The following weekend started out good. Saturday morning, I drove down to Concord to try a spinning class with Meg Whyte at Strive. I really liked it. After, we got smoothies and walked to the farmer's market. Afterwards, I did some shopping at Trader Joe's in Bedford before heading home with lots of delicious things. I relaxed at home the rest of the day. On Sunday, I headed to Ctown to spend some time with Simone. Originally, I was hoping it would be the 3 of us on this outing but that was not the case. Tim tagged along and he had his grandson (within minutes of being in the car, he had picked his nose and was threatening to wipe it on people). Time drove and it was interesting, to put it nicely. On the way, he called his friend a fag in front of Simone and casually mentioned he thought Trump was fantastic. I had to sit in between the kids on the way home because they couldn't keep their hands to themselves. It was annoying. Oh and his car smells like dog and urine. I had to take a shower when I got home. He was shirtless and smoking a cigarette when I left their (yes, he's officially moved in...even though he technically moved in months ago) house. I am officially disgusted and want nothing to do with him. I feel so sad for my niece. Heather and I have not spoken since. I had dinner with my mom and Ray before going home. Monday, I was supposed to have my windows cleaned by the same guy who pressure washed my house last year but no one showed up. Not impressed. Instead, I cleaned my bathroom, meal prepped, bought myself an Apple watch, and went for a run.

Last weekend was fairly uneventful. Saturday, I went to Barre and enjoyed my last deck beer of the season. It was nice out but windy, I had to get up and grab a sweatshirt. I did my grocery shopping before calling it a quiet night. On Sunday, I drove to Ctown and hiked Green Mountain with Ashley. We got some exercise, fresh air, and gave each other therapy as we were both upset and angry over various events. Our hike ended with a sweet view of Claremont. We enjoyed a little basement time before I went home. Monday, I did some stuffies and went for a run.

I can't believe Danielle Ferland died.

Until next time.
