Still No Snow

The first weekend in February was my call weekend but Ashley asked to take my Saturday (I have yet to do an entire weekend on call)...I only went in once Sunday morning to do one case. I went to Ctown and hung out with Simone for a couple hours (we went to New Socials for lunch) before I headed to Ludlow for the evening Saturday. We did our usual...chatting and drinking whiskey and gingers while Granny prepared dinner. She made pork chops in rice and tomatoes and stuffed zucchini. Cake with strawberry frosting was our dessert. Cora was there and later, Diane and her new boyfriend. A man who lives in their building and visits his demented wife at a nearby nursing home daily...am I the only one who finds that bizarre? Diane got pretty drunk and most of the evening at that point centered around how to find myself a man. Gag. Granny has since been in CA for a few weeks with Pete...a little getaway from VT because Cora is driving her nuts. I missed a little birthday dinner at my mom's for Heather due to call.

Valentine's Day weekend, I left for Maine Saturday morning and was home Sunday in plenty of time for season 6 mid season premiere of The Walking Dead. It was so damn good. Who would have thought a TV show would make me yell at the TV? Anywho, the occasion was James' birthday party. I arrived a little before lunch time and we pretty much shot the shit for the rest of the day. She made corned beef and cabbage for dinner and I got to hang out with the kids before they went to bed. We watched The Bodyguard before we went to bed...damn I love that movie. Sunday, I ran errands with her and helped decorate before party time. I got to take leftover Bob the Builder cake home lol.

I went to Ctown on the 20th to spend some time with the Goss kids and hang out with Ashley and Adam after their bedtime. We had Tremont for dinner and played Excitebike on Adam's new old school Nintendo system. In recent times, it's been a blast from the past between the Nintendo, super Nintendo, and all the old movies Ashley's been finding. She has put some adolescent and teenage gems on Facebook. Hopefully, we get most of our favorite, most memorable things transferred to DVD as soon as possible.

I got my taxes done in Claremont on the 23rd (score) so I planned on hanging out with S bomb afterwards. We played with play dough, her kitchen, watched Star Wars, and headed to Moody Park to play on the playground. Such a strange winter with no snow. While we were walking over, she looked up at me, smiled, and said she loved me #meltmyheart. Yesterday was her 4th birthday. We had a family birthday brunch at Revolution Cantina on Sunday then headed over to Merm's for presents and cake and ice cream.

Work has been status quo. Nothing too exciting there although I feel like my temper is beginning to show...for example, yesterday, I got angry in response to a doc in particular's behavior when things get even slightly challenging. He has no self control and is childish. I witnessed him yelling at a STEMI patient in pain on the table a couple weeks ago. It was kind of disturbing. I've been in the cath lab almost a year and each day it becomes clearer that it's going to burn me out sooner than I think. I do, however, have fun and enjoy most of the people I work with. This past Saturday, I organized a get together for Ashley at Salt Hill. She left for the cath lab at Duke and her last day was Friday. We had a decent turn out and by the time I left, my face hurt and I had a headache from laughing so much. I wish I was funny. A small, amusing, work related aside...I showed up for work on the 10th 30 minutes late because I had been asked to go to a class by our charge nurse the previous week. Well, he failed to share that with anyone, so some of my coworkers were minutes away from calling the police to go check on me. It was nice to know they were so concerned about me!
