I guess this is a record breaking December in terms of weather. I feel like there have been more days in the 50's than not and I have yet to break out my northface winter jacket. Christmas is Friday and it just seems so out of place. I realize Christmas isn't white every year but days that are almost springlike is a tad creepy. I've done some decorating (I actually put lights on my railing in front of my house) and I bought a nice real wreath from MHS which I decorated myself (nothing super creative). Dayna and I went down to the Keene area on the 5th to pick it up and we both ended up finding kitties that we wanted to take home. I struggle with that decision because there are so many kitties that need loving homes but I'm a little selfish and wonder if I waited too long. Xander may be at the age where he wouldn't accept a new kitty in his life (as evidenced by his behavior with Roger). I guess I won't know until I try. We had a yummy brunch and did some shopping elsewhere in Keene; coming home by way of Claremont with pit stops at Burdick's, Nelmar Hgts, Jackson Rd. in Cornish (crazy Xmas decorations), and Gusanoz for dinner. I wasn't sure if I was going to be up for the day because I had to call out of work Wed. and Thurs. (and I was beyond relieved when one of my coworkers took my call Wed. night). I dragged my ass through the day Friday, though. I came so close to making it through the calendar year without using sick time. I guess I'll try again next year.
On the 22nd (I think?) one of the surgeons I used to work with had a thing for a brewing company he started with 2 other dudes. It was at the town hall in Tunbridge? with sampling, food, and live music by a pretty good band. It was fun hanging out with some OR peeps then heading down the road to the Worthy Burger. After that, Dayna and I hung out with Chris at his house for a while.
Thanksgiving was at Denise and Eric's house this year. Their house is perfect for hosting family functions and they did a really good job setting everything up (especially the bar in the dining room). I spent most of the day playing with Simone and being in a food coma when I wasn't actually putting food in my mouth. Football was on the TV, 80's records were being played, and everyone fit at the same table.
This past Tuesday, I went to lunch at New Socials with my mom, Heather, and my cousin Eric. He moved to Lebanon on Halloween and this is the first time we've gotten together. I saw him briefly at my Grammy's funeral four years ago and I don't recall the time before that at the moment. It ended up being fun; I'm going to have him and his wife over for dinner...hopefully in January sometime. Their rabbit, Arthur (lol), also. They got married a few weeks ago and they moved to Leb so she could start PA school at Franklin Pierce. I picked up Simone from preschool with Heather and played with her for a few hours. She melts my heart.
Faith turned 21 on the 14th and her party was last night. We gathered at their house then went on a dinner and drinks pub crawl on Main St. in Nashua. The drunk award of the evening goes to Traci...I had a pretty good buzz going on until I stuffed myself with chicken and sweet potato. We started at Peddlar's Daughter, then went to a Mexican place, then Martha's (where we went after Sherry's graduation). Faith had a lot to drink and she handled it like a champ. I wish we had taken a group photo at the beginning of the night. Then, at the end. With cake. I sleep like crap when I drink too much so I'm super tired. I left around noon after a yummy breakfast (bacon, pumpkin waffles, and this Mexican tortilla and scrambled egg dish courtesy of Eric). I stopped at Sherry's place to hang for a bit and we went to Target (almost done Christmas shopping!) I got home 4-430 and I've been hanging with my sweet baby bear. It is now bedtime in all it's wonderful glory. 0730 comes quick...
