It's always hard to believe this time of year that there aren't very many quiet Sunday afternoons left to sit outside and not freeze to death. Unfortunately, it's going around that this winter is going to be particularly heinous. Great. Can't wait. I'm going to take advantage of this overcast 70 degree late summer day and blog on my deck. I'd rather be reading about the Black Death with a beer but it's time for an entry and I had my one weekly beer yesterday. This weekend has been pretty stellar so far. I enjoyed my usual Friday night. Yesterday morning, I got up and ran a 6 mile trail race with 2 of my coworkers. It was a difficult course but it felt darn good to finish. We hung around for a little while to see if we won any raffle prizes but we did not. I explored further up Poverty Ln. before going home to shower and eat. I did some cleaning up and relaxing then headed to Sunapee around dinner time to visit with Jason Monroe for the first time in what we figured out to be 7 years. Crazy. He and his parents rented a house on the lake for a week so I got to visit with them and meet his 3.5 year old daughter. She is so stinkin cute. We visited, snacked, had a beer, played hide and seek and jenga. I headed home around 1030. It was so nice to see him and think about all the good times we've had. Old friends are the best because they know the younger, more fun me. This morning, I visited with Emilee for about an hour at Smith field in Leb while she was here for Logan's baseball practice. When I'm done with this, I'm going to rally and get my grocery shopping done, maybe some meal prepping and a big maybe on the elliptical for 30 minutes (pretty sore from yesterday). I wish it wasn't such a struggle. The more I do today, the less I'll have to do tomorrow because I have to do treasurer stuff and I'd like to go for a bike ride. The windows of opportunity to enjoy the lake views grow smaller and colder by the day. There is also a need for spaghetti sauce.
Last weekend was a pretty fun weekend as well. Last Thursday, I got to see Becca at the hospital while she was there for OB appointments (yes, she's halfway through a pregnancy with a boy) and got to meet her boyfriend Eric. They stopped by the house and visited for a little bit. It was nice to see her and Eric seems like a really nice guy. Next time I see her, it'll be at the baby shower. It's crazy to think almost a year has passed since I saw her last and about 6 years before that. A lot can change in a short period of time. Last Saturday, I got up early to travel down to Belmont for Dayna's bachelorette party. We got to Kristy's house 1030ish and had brunch. I won't go into too much detail here because we documented the day really well with pictures. Her family rented a pontoon boat for a few hours on Winnisquam Lake. It could have been a little warmer but it was a beautiful day to be on the lake and the water wasn't freezing. It was a lot of fun but I do have to admit I felt a little bit like a 3rd wheel. Dayna has a new bestie named Casey and they hang out all the time. Oh well, such is life. We had a cookout at Kristy's house and just kind of vegged for the evening. We turned in kind of early which was great because I don't like staying up too late any more. I can't sleep in anymore so I kind of feel hungover when I stay up too late even if I've not had anything to drink. I feel like that today because I didn't go to sleep until about 1 this morning. Bad decision because I'm tired and don't feel like doing a damn thing. We vegged Sunday morning, drinking coffee, ate a light breakfast and headed home late morning. I was so happy to get home to my baby. I got settled and eventually took a shower after deciding I did not have the energy to work out...or much of anything other than some laundry and dishes. Monday, I grocery shopped, meal prepped and went for a run.
I was in the midst of a call weekend during my last entry and thankfully, the quiet trend continued. 7 am Monday morning was even sweeter knowing that I only had to get through a week and then I was on vacation. My week off was pretty fantastical. I enjoyed my usual Friday evening, got up Saturday to go to Barre class then headed to Newbury for my monthly appointment. I had an impromptu dinner out with my mom and Ray at Big Fatty's. We got a chance to go over treasurer stuff before they left ahead of a big thunderstorm. I ended up turning all my lights out and watching it from inside my slider. That never happens. Sunday, I went for a run and ran some errands ending the day by spraying the hell out of the little tent-worm infested tree in my front yard with stuff recommended by a friend. Worked like a charm. Monday, I had an eye and dentist appointments then ran some more errands. I also washed all the linen for my guest bed and got it ready for an eventual guest. Tuesday, I finished up all the shopping for the gift basket I made for Dayna and Cory. Wednesday, I had a physical, made cinnamon buns and cleaned my living room as it was a rainy day. Thursday, I took Simone to Keene to spend the day with Amy, Becky, Michelle and their kids. It was fun; we relaxed, chatted, ate, swam, and played kick ball. Simone and I checked out Life is Sweet before heading back to Ctown for the evening. We played until dinner was ready round 830. Friday, I cleaned my kitchen then went for a long run. Saturday, I went to Barre and spent the evening hanging out with Ashley and Jen. Sunday, I hiked Cardigan for the first time then grocery shopped. Monday, I meal prepped and went for a long bike ride with properly inflated tires. I actually made sure I had enough time to stop and sit on the bench overlooking the lake for a little bit. Then back to reality.
Speaking of reality, work's been ok. Must have been the time off because I've been in a pretty good mood at work the past two weeks. Having a good attitude makes the biggest difference. Now that my elearnings are done, I'm currently tackling my ACLS recertification and will move on to the new bullshit competencies the department of nursing is forcing upon us. Everything is due at the same time so it'll be interesting to see how this plays out considering I'm on vacation the last two weeks of October and currently refusing to spend any of my personal time working on this crap. Ok, breath, positive attitude. The frustration will soon turn to sadness because Cardiology is having a memorial for Billy this coming Tuesday.
My music selection has not changed although I do have to say that Friday night was super exciting because season 3 of Hip Hop Evolution was out on Netflix.
Hopefully, this time next month will still be possible to sit outside for this task without having to wear a winter jacket.
