Call Weekend Blues

January, the worst month of the year, is officially over. It's a pretty big yearly hurdle so when it's gone, I always feel relieved. February is short and I have a week off in March to look forward to so it's almost as if April and spring time is just around the corner. Winter seems to be going quickly, but so does summer. Life is just one big cycle made up of a million little ones. Sigh. With that being said, you may be asking yourself why I'm sitting down at 10 PM on a Friday night to start this month's blog? There's a big hint in the title. Yup, you guessed it. I'm on call...all weekend. Yuck. I'm tired and probably should go to bed but I'll probably just be mindless on my phone for the next hour so may as well get a head start on this in case tomorrow is busy. Ideally, I'd like to finish this tonight and go to Barre in the morning before the pager goes off. We shall see, so let's go! I cleaned Xander's potty room when I got home from work so I suppose I can keep up some of the momentum.

The first week of the new year proved to be the end of the investigation at work. We were told there'd be an announcement by that Friday but Friday came and it ended up being postponed through the weekend. I was not a happy camper but I pushed through the day and did my best to enjoy the weekend despite the anxiety. Friday and Saturday, I was home. Sunday, I went to Claremont and made a trip to Burdick's with Heather and Simone. *Pager goes off* Ok, picking up Sunday afternoon where I left off Friday night. I worked until 3 am Saturday morning and then from 10 to 5 Saturday. We went in this morning for one case and I hope it stays that way. I'm tired and I want to get stuff done and maybe tune in occasionally to the Super Bowl? I hung out with Simone for a little bit after getting back from Burdicks. I stopped by my mom's to talk about family stuff then headed to Ashley's for a quick visit before going home to grocery shop (texting with Denise). Monday morning, I couldn't bring myself to get up and go to work on my day off to attend the "verdict" meeting. I waited for Trista to text me AND she delivered very good news. Don would not be returning to work. Needless to say, that was a day of celebration and the beginning of the lab's healing. Susan was put on leave later that week after returning from being sick and she ultimately resigned. No one really knows why she reacted the way she did but it doesn't bother me at all due to the fact that she stopped talking to me. Friendships were lost (Jen) but I don't have a problem with anyone else, thankfully. It's hard to not be angry with her so I'm trying to turn those emotions into feeling sorry for the kind of person she is. Easier said than done. Time. Tuesday, I reported to the courthouse in Haverhill for my first experience with jury duty but was released an hour after arrival (random pick of 10 people to be excused). It was a little disappointing because I wanted to be a part of the process but I spent the rest of the day doing what I wanted to do because I didn't feel like offering to come into work. I finally purchased my home security system and made an Italy picture book on shutterfly then went to Barre class.

The following weekend, I covered call for Micaela Friday night until 9 and off course I was there the whole time. Saturday, I was home until meeting Dayna and her family at a place in the Glen Rd. plaza to try on dresses. She tried on a few and I tried on a navy blue sheer dress that was actually really pretty. Sunday, I met my mom at the New London park and ride and we met Denise at Margarita's in Concord to talk about some family business. It's a good thing we did because it made me look at the situation differently and overall, feel a little better about it. At this point, I am standing back and living my life the way I want to while being aavailable to jump in and help in any way. I can't make anybody do anything and I can't do what needs to be done for them. I kept a low profile for the rest of the weekend.

The next weekend was kind of exciting because we got out first real winter snowstorm of the season. I was home Friday, went to Barre Saturday morning and was home until Monday morning for a noon hair appointment. It started around 4 Saturday afternoon so I got my grocery shopping done before it got worse. I did stuffies all day Sunday with the intent to go snowshoeing at some point but didn't make time for it (shocker) because I got too involved in setting up my security system. We got a fair amount of snow but not quite was I was expecting. I ran some errands after my hair appointment and met with a man at the DHMC EAP for about an hour to talk about the lab happenings. I didn't really find it super helpful but maybe it was in a subtle way? I did, however, accomplish printing and delivering whatever the police dept. needs on record for my Simplisafe system.

Last weekend was fairly uneventful. I was home Friday and Saturday. I went to Ctown on Sunday to hang with S bomb. I took her to lunch at Ramuntos then we were going to check out Hobby Lobby but, apparently, they are closed on Sunday so we went to TJ Max instead. We played until 5 then I walked around the corner to Emilee's to hang out with her and the kids. We chatted and had an adult beverage before a meatloaf dinner. Maddy did our eye makeup and we ate birthday cake from Lou's and ice cream while watching Cockblockers (funny movie). Good times. I did my grocery shopping before heading home for the night. Monday started with a handyman (recommended by John Clark) coming to look at my doorbell. I was hoping it would be an easy fix but it may require an electrician and a new ringing component that is inside the cover on my bedroom wall. At the very least, I have a better idea of what the problem is. I spent the rest of the day meal prepping and doing other stuffies.

I'm very much looking forward to sleeping and waking up at 7 tomorrow morning...until next time.
