A Very Bird Wedding

11.13

Denise and Eric got married this past Saturday at their house in Nashua. The ceremony was officiated by their friend Sheila up in their carriage house. It was very tastefully decorated by Sherry and it matched the vintage style of the house. The ceremony was small, short, and sweet. A champagne toast followed in the house and dinner was at Martha's Exchange downtown. A party at the house followed (with wedding cake of course) and people left or continued to drink as the night went on. Heather, Simone and I spent the night in the den (Dave went home because he was sick). I wish I had gone home because I'm not much of a drinker anymore and I cannot sleep unless I'm alone in my own bed. It was nice, however, to get up and hang out with those that stayed. Eric made breakfast and they have excellent taste in coffee. We headed home around noonish and once I was home and unpacked, I dragged my sleep-deprived body to Barre. Gotta do at least one productive thing on any given day.

Time always seems to escape me so now I need to pick up where I left off last. So I think the beginning of October still had pretty decent weather and it began the 2 week countdown to the best time of the year (other than the beginning of summer): my 2 week October staycation. As far as the weather goes, things have changed a little bit...I woke up to snow falling this morning. I guess I'm ready for it and I was in the right frame of mind to accept it as I was in bed for 12 hours last night. So great. Anywho, back to October. I'm sitting here and I can honestly say I don't recall what I did the first full weekend in October. I'm pretty sure I stayed home and had a me weekend with the exception of going to pub trivia Sunday night with Dayna and her bf and his friends. I was also planning on doing the Harpoon Oktoberfest race that morning but decided against it because it was cold and rainy.

The following Friday the 13th kicked off my staycation. I began on a great note by going for a 4 mile run on the rail trail after work. The next day was Charlie's birthday party (Jurassic Park themed) so I got up and did some chores before heading to Ctown for the day. Ashley did an awesome job with the decorations and it was a fun day. Around dinner time, Tanya and Candy stopped in for a visit as they were in the area. I've never met Candy and I'm pretty sure I havent seen Tanya since the fall of 2005...crazy. I was the last man standing and stayed to hang out after putting the kids to bed. Good times.

I wrote a pretty lengthy paragraph yesterday about my 2 week vacation in October and made a point to save it several times because a portion of my last entry disappeared and I had to rewrite it. I didn't close this window when I was done yesterday to make extra sure that what I wrote yesterday wouldn't fucking disappear. Sit down today to finish this and it's fucking gone. I'm not rewriting it so it's gone forever floating around out in the universe. Blood is boiling. Why do I even fucking do this. I seriously have to copy and paste everything to a new program and probably should take a picture of everything I write because nothing else works. Multiple times I saved it on top of the automatic save function. I don't under stand. I want to throw this piece of shit computer out the window and watch it smash into a million pieces on the pavement. Done with this.

I went back to work on Halloween. We had a Halloween party. My pumpkin cheesecake won a prize. Yay. Got a handful of trick or treaters. The first weekend in November, I saw A Perfect Circle on Sunday night at Mohegan Sun. I decided in advance to make a side trip to Norton, adding to an already 6 hour round trip as opposed to making an entirely separate trip as I've been meaning to do that for a while. Probably my last time so I made it count. Didn't see anybody, just did my own thing. I drove through Village Way and the elementary school (Tedeschi's is no longer, it's still a convenience store but it's some lady's name now, stupid). I got a coffee at Honey Dew Donuts and parked at Wheaton and walked around the campus for a while before making my way to the casino. The concert was awesome, probably the first concert I've not been allowed to take pictures or videos so it's only in my memory now. It's kind of freeing in a way; maybe I should translate that experience to what I'm doing now and just live life day to day and let go of the obligation I have to sit down once a month and write about what I've been up to. Who reads this? Who cares? It's not like I can be completely truthful about what I do or think so what the point of writing about how I spend my days. I don't even enjoy writing. I've been doing this for years so I feel like I can't stop now. Anyways. Obviously got home super late and had to get up to bring Xander to the vet for a follow up appt in the morning.

Yesterday, I went for an abbreviated bike ride (it was cold and had to beat the early sunset) and went to Ctown to hang out at the Goss house. I forgot they had decorated for Xmas already until I turned onto their street and saw the lights. Hung out for a bit with the kids before they went upstairs to watch a movie. Now, going to clean my bathroom, go to Barre class, go grocery shopping then call it a day. Peace.

Well, I tried to let it go but I just couldn’t. So, here I sit at Asetex, rewriting what I lost the other day. A 2 week staycation is the best thing ever and I can’t let it disappear into the universe. So, starting (again) where I left off. The day after the birthday party, I went to see the Wailers at the Lebanon Opera House. I bought a front row ticket from one of my OR coworkers but really couldn’t enjoy the location completely as multiple people stood and danced right in front of me. I could have joined them but I don’t dance unless I’m drinking and feel like people aren’t paying attention to me. It was a cool experience, regardless. Monday, I went grocery shopping. Tuesday morning, I hung out with Emilee. We were going to hike Gile in Norwich but the trail and road leading to it were closed so we went to Boston Lot instead. I’ve been meaning to check that out anyways. I spent the rest of that day making chili, meatball sliders, and apple pie. The following Sunday, I spent most of the day with Heather and Simone. We had brunch at the Cantina, drove to Harlow’s farm stand for pumpkins, and made a trip to Westminster West. It was cool to see for the first time where my Grandfather grew up. We stopped at Burdick’s on the way home. I played for a little bit before heading home for the season premiere of TWD. Tuesday, I drove to Keene (dropping my bike off for a tune up) to hang out with Amy and the kids. It had been a long time and it was good to see them. My staycation kind of ended on a bad note as I discovered water leaking into my basement from the baseboard along my deck. I was thinking the worst but Fred came over to look at it and it doesn’t seem like the crisis I was imagining. I also got a nasty virus (the worst days being Saturday and Sunday). I felt better on Monday, then I went back to work. It lingered for a solid week after that. Not fun. I also did other things and had plenty of sleep and lazy moments throughout my time off. I intended on doing more cooking and baking but the only other thing I made was a pumpkin cheesecake my last day. I also cleaned my house and rearranged my bedroom. I rewatched the last season of TWD and worked out when I wasn’t sick. I went for a bike ride, a 6 mile run (haven’t run since), Barre class, and some elliptical time. All good things must come to an end. I just wish it had ended slightly different. I had to return to better habits and begin a new countdown to the next vacation.
