Smart Phone Technology and the Olympics.

I have been the owner of an iphone 4s for nearly 2 weeks and I gotta say it's been quite delightful. So much information and entertainment at my disposal. It has definitely helped me be more efficient and organized but, on the flip side, has provided me more opportunity to waste time. Oh well. Where did I leave off last.

So we were in the midst of the hottest July on record in years (or since record-keeping began?) atleast in certain parts of the country, not necessarily New England. It was yucky hot, though, when I went to see Kendall perform in her play at St. Paul's on the 14th. She was so good! Seeing her as the person she is today makes it very hard to believe I used to change her diapers. I'm getting older and I don't like it. It was strange being on campus...it has been years. Walking around and looking at things brought back a lot of feelings despite not being able to enter the library, chapel, and Armour. I wish I could have appreciated it at the time. On a related note, I filled out an ASP donation today for the first time in years. I only wish I had something noteworthy to comment on regarding my life for the alumni newsletter...

Ross was here from the 10th through the 18th for his 20th high school reunion and we got some nice family time in. Dinners, hanging out, etc. I got to hang out with just him one evening...had some drinks and played pool at the one and only Time Out in Ctown. We all wish he lived closer.

Ashley's baby shower was the 28th and it was a lovely affair put on at Mamacita's by her and Julie. It was supposed to be outside but it had to be moved inside at the last minute due to inclement weather. Puffles and Simone came. We all ate good food, laughed, played games and she got lots of good stuff for Mr. Bean. People trickled out and the evening ended with girl talk between me, Ashley, Christina and their mom.

The following evening was a 311 concert at Meadowbrook. I went with Eli and his friend Kenny...always a good time being in Eli's presence lol. I love seeing bands I like live. I can't describe how awesome it is. Sipping beer, feeling the music and energy of everyone around you, and, not to mention, the heavy scent of pot in the air. I don't have a lot of things I love but concerts are definitely one of them. I hope to see Stone Temple Pilots next week.

The Summer Olympics in London came and went...starting the 27th with closing ceremonies this past Sunday. It's beyond remarkable what the human body and spirit is capable of. My favorite sport is gymnastics but I really didn't get to watch much of it in real time. I was at work during most of it and would get results either from coworkers or emails before I could go home at night and watch them reair it. Two weeks of amazing feats and then its gone for another 4 years. As a result of this, I've spent a lot of time on youtube watching Olympic gymnastic moments from the past. It's hard to beat injured Kerri Strug's vault in 1996 that won us the team gold.

Today is Day 1 of summer 2012 staycation. Not very structured so I will allow it to unravel as it pleases. It started with a muffin hanging from my door knob and a service for the yota. A few things to accomplish but generally it will be spent doing enjoyable things although I do need to catch up and continue with couch to 5k. I just am not destined to be a runner. I am destined to hang out at home with the fluffy guy. And to be a sleeper, of course. And speaking of...
