I am officially on staycation vacation and Simone is 5 days overdue. 12 glorious days to be spent not at work, but in the presence of a little baby...if she would only make her way out here! The purpose of this vacation is to help with baby duties and other activities of daily living and other miscellaneous tasks that always seem to creep into my mind around vacation timeor those that I've deferred for more time off. Tomorrow is a new day and we shall see what it brings other than snow! Speaking of snow (or the lack thereof), this winter has been unseasonably warm and scarce of fluffy white stuff. No qualms here, but I'm kind of looking forward to some snow...even though it'll be a small amount and mixed with rain. Today, the weather channel was mentioning how a lot of cities have a winter weather budget surplus and the question of what to do with it was raised. My first thought was to donate it to ski resorts!
I don't have anything written in my current planner new this year for the rest of January since I last wrote so I will skip to February. I picked up extras shifts (shocking!!) this month so my work life has been busier and more lucrative. The extra money in my paychecks has been quite lovely. Grace's 3rd birthday party was the first Saturday and it was fun, as always. She had an Alice in Wonderland theme (Ashley did a great job) but the party wasn't nearly as beautiful as the birthday girl herself! Or, I should say, the unbirthday girl lol. Speaking of the Goss family...baby #3 is on the way! Can't say I'm too surprised but it's always fun to hear that news and I hope upon hope that everything goes well and they have a happy, healthy baby (maybe a boy?)
My eyelids are becoming really heavy so I'll keep this brief although there really isn't a whole lot more to talk about until today. I have gotten into yoga and have been to a handful of classes. Having a studio so close helps my motivation in addition to genuinely enjoying the practice and feeling good afterwards. It improves the mind/body connection, relaxation, flexibility and strength. I plan to keep it up for a while even if only to supplement my jogging when I get back to it. Last Saturday, I helped Kendall celebrate her 17th birthday by joining Amy and Mike for sushi and Hairspray at the Hop. It was a fun evening.
One concrete thing on the agenda for next week is a brief meeting at the UVHS which means I am finally going to start volunteering soon after sending in my application shortly after moving to my new apartment at the end of the summer. Better late than never I suppose. Also plan to do some shopping trips, set up a bed in my spare bedroom, and get my computer tuned up. I also must do some thinking about my career. I've been saying that for a long time now so who knows what will get accomplished.
I will end here in order to read some of 11/22/63 before I can't keep my eyes open...one of my Christmas gifts and a great Stephen King novel. Sweet dreams with a fluffy kitty next to me and here's hoping for an exciting phone call soooooooooooooon!
