On February 12th, I got LASIK (or in my case, PRK). Let me tell you how fabulous it has been not dealing with glasses or contacts. I am just getting used to being able to see as soon as I open my eyes in the morning. For the first couple of weeks I was trying to push up my glasses, take them off at night, and reach for them on my nightstand in the morning. So weird after being nearsighted since the fourth grade.
The actual procedure itself wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I got to take po valium so I was feeling pretty relaxed although I was awake and fully aware of what they were doing to my eye. They gave me super numbing eye drops so I didn't feel anything except slight pressure. A tiny brush was used to remove the surface epithelium and then the laser. I was in the room no longer than 15 minutes and could see immediately. The first few days were a little rough, I was uncomfortable and extremely teary as my eyes had to regrow the epithelium that was removed. I slept a lot that weekend, it was great.
I just got back from a southern Caribbean cruise. It was great. I have 3 albums of pics on facebook so I won't even try to describe how pretty it was. I don't understand how places that beautiful can have so much poverty. I felt guilty.
We were busy everyday, I am still trying to catch up on sleep. We went to beautiful beaches pretty much every day, ate like pigs, shopped, gambled, consumed lots of booze, jetskiied one day, and ziplined another. Sooo much fun. It always nice to come home though. I missed my own bed and my lil' fluffy guy of course!
This blog's kinda short, I guess I'm not too wordy tonight. But hey, when am I? My bed is calling my name. Tomorrow is my last day of vaca and I need to see little Grace Goss before I go back to work. And if I'm really motivated, I'll go for a run.
Oh, and I'm officially obsessed with Band of Brothers. Everyone needs to watch it. It is amazing.
